Unwrapping Something Profound: Why Every Order Is Packaged With Love (and Zero Guilt)

Why Packaging Matters As Much As The T-Shirt Itself
When you order from Something Profound, you're not just getting a funny t-shirt made for people with chronic illness or a neurodivergent household in mind — you're getting a whole experience. I wanted opening your parcel to feel like unwrapping an eco-friendly gift to yourself, from yourself (or from someone who loves you, if we've made it onto your birthday or Christmas list).
Sustainability isn't a buzzword for me. It's personal. Between living with Multiple Sclerosis and raising a neurodiverse household here in the North East of England, I know how much small, thoughtful details can matter. So I put that same care into every single parcel that leaves my hands.
What's Inside Your Parcel
100% Plant-Based, Compostable Packaging
Sometimes I still use cardboard, but my absolute favourite way to send your order is in a 100% plant-based, compostable eco bag. These little bags do a lot of talking (literally — there's this message printed right on the back):
'Thanks for keeping the sea plastic free
I’ve been crafted from sustainable, plant based materials. I’ll naturally disappear into your food waste or compost bin leaving no trace. By using me you are preventing another plastic bag from harming our planet’
They're decorated with a cute turtle and plant design, which feels fitting given what they're helping protect.
The clever bit? These bags are designed for two lives. When your order arrives, you tear along the dotted line to open it — and underneath, there's a second sticky strip so you can reuse the very same bag to send something on to a friend, sell a pre-loved item, or post something for charity. It's a small way of fighting back against clothing ending up in landfill, one parcel at a time.
I found these through a supplier on Amazon, and I'm always happy to point people towards them if you fancy switching your own packaging over here is the link.
Wrapped With Care
Every item is wrapped in tissue paper, finished with a sticker that reads "Thank you for supporting my small biz." That sticker is designed by a fellow small business, Mirren Brown Design — because supporting other independent makers matters just as much to me as sustainability does. Small businesses lifting up small businesses is what keeps this whole community going.
A Sweet Treat (UK Orders)
If you're ordering within the UK, you'll also find a little pack of Swizzels Love Hearts tucked in — just a small, sweet way of saying thank you for choosing us.
Made-With-Love Extras
Inside every parcel, you'll also find:
- A custom clothing label, designed by me, sharing what Something Profound stands for and how to look after your garment so it lasts.
- A business card, so you can find us again (and tell a friend, if you're feeling generous).
- Collaboration extras, some of our beautiful collaborators have cards and messages for me to put into your packaging too.
The Something Profound Promise
My aim with every parcel is simple: make it feel special, make it feel sustainable, and make it feel like it came from someone who genuinely cares — because it did. Every bag, sticker, and label is chosen with the same intention behind every t-shirt design: to make people with chronic illness and neurodivergent people feel seen, and to do it in a way that's kind to the planet too.
I'd love to know what you think. All feedback on packaging is always welcome — I want the whole experience, from landing on my website to unboxing, to be as lush as possible for every single customer.
